Pray Distress

Psalm 25:16-21
Turn to me and have mercy,
for I am alone
and in deep distress.
My problems go from bad to worse.
Oh, save me from them all!
Feel my pain.
See my trouble.
Forgive all my sins.
Look how many enemies I have
and how viciously they hate me!
Protect me!
Rescue me!
Watch over my soul.
Don’t let me down
when I run to you for refuge.
May integrity and honesty
protect me.
Vigilantly I wait for you,
hoping, trusting.

SEVENAPPLES COMMENTARY
There’s stress, and then there’s distress.
One is bad. The other is worse.
Thankfully, the solution to both is prayer.
Today’s COVID-19 Prayer Guide
features a piece of art called
‘The Cage And The Beginning.’
This title serves as an apt description
of the ultimate outcome of stress.
It may seem a small thing when it begins,
but left unchecked, stress can lead
to feelings of distress;
of constant worry,
of fear and hopelessness.
Be encouraged –
if you’re feeling stuck in your distress,
you’ll find freedom in your prayers.
