1 John 4:1-3
Friends, I warn you:
do not trust every spirit.
Instead, examine them carefully
to see whether they are from God.
Because the world is filled
with the voices of many
false prophets and teachers.
Here is how you know God’s Spirit:
every spirit that confesses
that Jesus Christ
has come in the flesh
is from God,
and every spirit
that does not confess Jesus
is not from God.
This is the spirit of the antichrist,
which you heard is coming into the world
and indeed is already here.

Friend, when Jesus speaks to us
his voice is tender, calm
and comforting.
When the enemy speaks,
his voice is angry, alarming
and hopeless.
When Jesus speaks,
his words are full of peace,
love and affirmation.
When the enemy speaks
his words are full of fear,
shame and guilt.
Who are you listening today?
Ask God to silence the voice
of your enemy.
