Until recently,
I’ve failed to appreciate the lyric,
“entertain my faith.”
It felt lazy to me. Spoon-fed.
Yet, with just a little effort,
I realized my lack of appreciation
was just a lack of understanding.
To entertain does not involve laziness.
This verb holds far more
creative power than that.
To entertain faith involves
an “active consideration.”
A “pleasant holding” of attention.
A “cherishing.”
Yes, Lord.
Help me entertain my faith.
