rage and anger,
shouting and slander,
and any and all
malicious thoughts—
these are poison.

For this study
we press-in to the practice
of refusing to give the devil
a foothold in our lives.
This photograph features
an Indian brave
firing an arrow into the sky.
For me, it symbolizes
how, through prayer,
we can give God our bitterness,
our anger, our unforgiveness,
and all of the temptations
that seek to control us.
